    • We encourage you to run necessary errands, ensure you have adequate groceries, and fill up with gas by April 5 before the influx of visitors from all over the world!
    • Have a communication plan with your family should cell service be impacted.

  • What is a total solar eclipse?

A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, completely blocking the Sun. People located within the path of totality, will experience the total eclipse.

  • What will happen during the eclipse?

The sky will darken, and look like early morning before the sun rises, or evening when the sun is setting.  If the skies are clear, you will be able to see the sun change.

When the eclipse begins: The Sun begins to change to look like a crescent shape.

Middle of the eclipse:  The Sun will be covered by the Moon. Only a small sliver of the Sun will be visible around the outside of the Moon. The sky will darken because the Sun is blocked by the Moon

Ending of the eclipse:  The eclipse ends and the Sun changes from a crescent shape back to a fully visible circle

If you are looking into the sky during the eclipse:  You must keep your eclipse glasses on during the entire eclispe in order to not damage your eyes.

  • What is the Path of Totality and why is that important?

If you are in the path of the totality of the eclipse, it means that you are in an area where you will be able to view the entire eclipse.  You will be able to see the Moon completely cover the Sun. Thousands of people travel to areas within the path of totality.  Marble Falls is within the Path of Totality.
